AASHTO CORE-1-M

This Guide provides a description of structural elements that are commonly used in highway bridge construction and encountered on bridge safety inspections. These elements are termed Commonly Recognized (CORE) structural elements because of their nationwide recognition and use. The element descriptions are meant to provide a uniform basis for data collection for any bridge management system and to enable sharing of data among states.
