This manual presents uniform guidelines and procedures pertaining to the unique structural, mechanical, electrical, and operational characteristics of movable highway bridges. The manual was developed for bridge engineers, inspectors, and maintainers charged with operational and maintenance responsibilities for these complex structures. Commentary adjacent to the text provides suggestions on implementing the guidelines and procedures, and directs the reader to additional sources of information. This manual supersedes the 1998 first edition.
