1.1 This specification covers low energy air guns (LEAG), commonly referred to as airsoft guns, air soft guns, or soft air guns, or any combination thereof, which propel a low energy air gun projectile, as defined in 3.3.

1.2 Limitations - This specification does not cover the following categories of gun products: Products covered by Specifications F 589 (non-powder guns), F 2272 (paintball markers), F 2573 (toy products), and F 2574 (non-recreational guns such as those used by law enforcement, scientific, or military agencies).

1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.
