Applies to rectangular and square plates of granite or cast iron, in sizes from 160 mm x 100 mm to 2500 mm x 1600 mm or from 12 in x 12 in to 96 in in four grades of accuracy. Specifies material, rigidity, finish, general features, accuracy, protection and marking. Appendices cover care and use, methods of testing and the basis of permitted deviation from flatness overall of the working surface.
