This test method details the procedures used in determining the amount of deposit accumulation on a boiler tube surface, commonly expressed as the deposit-weight-density value, via a technique known as glass-bead-blasting. This technique uses equipment to remove boiler waterside deposits on a piece of tubing removed from a representative area of a boiler. Included are details of the test equipment and apparatus, preparing the test specimen, the test procedure, and how to handle the test specimen after cleaning. Also included is a section on potential interferences. This standard is maintained by Task Group 218.
